Louisville partner Eric Farris has been appointed a member of the State Board of Elections by Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear. Eric will serve until 2026, filling the seat of the late J. Michael Brown. Led by chief election official and Secretary of State Michael G. Adams, the eight-member board works to ensure Kentucky’s compliance with federal and state election law, maintains the statewide voter registration database and is involved in training county clerks and other local board of election members. Eric is also Vice Chair of the Kentucky Governor’s Scholars Program and currently serves as Vice Chair of the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education (CPE). LEGAL ALERT | The Department for Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights recently issued a final rule under Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act, which prohibits federally funded health programs from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability. In this alert, Dinsmore healthcare attorneys Timothy J. Cahill and Ashley Durner explain how the rule also clarifies extended protections to providers’ use of artificial intelligence “patient care decision support tools,” and the duty providers have to identify and mitigate the risks of any potentially discriminatory tools.
