Event Description:
Explore the rich historical contributions of African Americans in the equine industry. Watch the life of Isaac Burns Murphy jump off the page through Dr. Pellom McDaniels III new book, The Prince of Jockeys: The Life of Isaac Burns Murphy. Join us for this free, open to the public, family friendly book signing and reception. No registration or RSVP needed. Dr. McDaniels is the Curator of African American Studies at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. He has dedicated himself to bring the legend of Murphy's life and racing career through extensive research facilitated in the Bluegrass.
Directions:
The Lyric Theatre and Cultural Arts Center is located at the corner of Third Street and Elm Tree Lane. Parking is available to the public at no charge. Parking options include: lot located across from the Lyric on Third, street parking on both sides of Elm Tree, Polk Dalton Clinic (across from the Theatre on the corner of Elm Tree and Third), Kentucky Corner parking lot (located on Third next to the Nationwide Insurance building).
